The UK facilities management market is estimated to be worth approximately £120 billion. Much of that value is concentrated in London, the UK’s capital and economic centre, where a small but not insignificant number of facilities services outsourcing companies dominate the market and dictate its trends.
But this does not paint the full picture of UK FM. All over the country there are FM businesses and practitioners developing innovative and enterprising solutions for customers, colleagues and the general public.
It has, however, become all too easy for these stories to fly under the radar, particularly at a time when the vast majority of news coverage is dominated by the failures of prominent facilities services companies, reckless procurement practices in the public sector, and an industry burdened by low margins.
Nevertheless, this troubling period has presented FM professionals in regions like Scotland with an opportunity to step out of the large shadow cast by its London neighbour and demonstrate what best FM practice looks like. The Scottish FM sector contains an active, dynamic and ambitious community that has much to contribute to the wider industry.
Of course, all this is happening against a backdrop of profound social, economic and technological change, now taking place at a breakneck speed and threatening to destabilise the facilities sector even further. It is essential, therefore, that FM practitioners have access to the latest thinking in preparation for a future that could turn up the demands on their role.
With this in mind, the Facilities Scotland 2018 seminar programme will showcase the very best of Scottish FM, panel debates on the latest trends shaping the FM market in the region and beyond, and a series of talks that will help facilities managers enhance their CPD.
All seminar sessions are free to attend! Register your interest in attending and we’ll drop you a line when free registration is open.
